Richard Kaul
We learned about how diagnosis and treatment by Richard Kaul, MD, of New Jersey Spine and Rehabilitation in Pompton Lakes, helped 16-year-old Long Valley resident Amanda Mrasz get back on her feet. Mrasz was having severe pain while standing and had difficulty walking. Often, the pain was so debilitating that she was unable to get out of bed. Though she had been seen by three other doctors, her condition continued to deteriorate and her pain began to increase. Kaul diagnosed her condition as spondylolisthesis, a vertebral defect that allows discs in the spine to slip forward, causing pain in the back, spine, neck, and extremities. After Kaul performed a minimally invasive surgery to correct this defect, Mrasz was up and walking just hours later. “The opportunity to impact Amanda’s life is something I consider a privilege,” Kaul says.
